Starting the day together on a pure and fresh note

I will say with certainty, I am not a morning person!  I would also say that most of my children certainly are not morning  people either.  One child I have to force out of bed everyday by repeatedly calling into his room that it is time to get up.  Several of my children wake up as grumpy as can be.  The youngest ones will wake up and spend a good long time actually crying pretty much every morning.  Really, even if I was a morning person, the chaos around here would make me much less of a morning liker!

It's a challenge  for me to get the day turned around to become more likable. I need to perk myself up so that I am ready to school the children and deal with everything else a day with children, toddlers and babies brings.  I need to get the school aged children awake and focused and ready to tackle school work.  I need to change the crying and whining and fussing into nice level, calm moods.

Getting the day off with a pure and fresh note is important to me for myself and my family.  So how do I do this?

First, whenever possible, I sleep with the windows open.  Even if its just a crack opened in cool weather the fresh air is so nice to sleep with and awaken with.  Once the nights around here are warmer than near freezing you will find my windows open.  During summer we don't have air conditioning but rather keep the windows open for breeze.  Its a very pure feeling to awaken to blinds open, sunlight gently streaming through your window, birds singling happily to welcome the day and a nice breeze bringing in the smell of forest and meadows that surround us.

Once out of bed I do a few quick stretches to get my blood flowing, loosen my muscles and work out any crimps from sleeping wrong the night before.

Next, I feel the best way to get going in a fresh way is to take a quick shower.  I am literally only in the shower for less than a minute.  I don't generally even wash my hair during this time, I do that in the afternoon once I have done my hard workout routine, I just spend enough time to get some warm water run over me to help  me wake up and feel energized and ready to tackle everything I need to do.

Now that I am feeling like I am ready to  jump right into tackling the day ahead, I need to help those children get their day off on an equally good note.  I find that a good pure healthy breakfast is perfect for doing that.  I am not talking about pouring some milk over sugary, bight colored cereal, either!  I am talking about a fresh, healthy meal.  Here are some suggestions on things I often give my children to eat:

oatmeal (often made even healthier by adding ground flax seed, and/or wheat germ, fresh or frozen berries, dried fruit etc into it)

Pancakes (whole grain, healthy varities)

Waffles (and when you make up your pancakes or waflles or french toast--do a lot of extras.  You can freeze them and then pop them into a toaster on those busy morning where making fresh, new batches are not possible.  That way you still get that healthy start)

French toast (using whole grain breads, of course)

bagels (yes I do even make homemade bagels but do buy store bought varieties just as much!)

and our most recent food kick...muffins.  Although muffins got sort of a bad rep in recent years thanks to  as-big-as-your-head-super-high-sugar-all empty-carb type varitiest that were appearing in bakeries and coffee shops, muffins can be a great fresh healthy breakfast choice.  There are many whole grain, low sugar varities with healthy fruit or even veggies added in.  Even on days some of my children don't feel like a heartier breakfast, they always seem to welcome a muffiin!  I also like that you can mix up a batch and bake them in little time at all.  Sure, you could bake them the night before, but what could be fresher than starting your day to the smell of yummy baked goods?

We also generally include some fruit with breakfast and also juice.  I love that Tropicana has juice that taste fresh and pure.  I recently learned that great taste actually comes from using two different 100% pure oranges to make their 100% pure juice.
The two major orange types in Tropicana Pure Premium are Valencia and Hamlin. Valencias typically have more intense color and flavor, while Hamlins can be sweeter. They each add unique characteristics to the TPP blend.  Tropicana has spent a long time perfecting their orange juice.  Actually, some of its current grower relationships date to the 1960s.

And Florida oranges have been grown in Florida since the 1560s, approximately 147 years before any other U.S. state. Obviously, Florida is "the" place for oranges.  I am not the only  one who thinks highly of Tropicana, either.  As a matter of fact,
Tropicana is the single largest buyer of Florida fruit, purchasing approximately 11.6 billion oranges from Florida each year. There are alot of people looking for Tropicana when they shop.  Really, orange juice is truly and amazing fresh and pure way to start a day!

Tropicana is committed to using the best fruit to give you the great tasting juice you love and the nutrition your body needs. Each 59oz container of Tropicana Pure Premium® has 16 fresh-picked Florida oranges squeezed into it and an 8oz glass gives you 100% vitamin C to help you maintain a healthy immune system.
