After last week's savings disappointment, I knew I had to do some brainstorming to find a sure fire way to start saving. So with great saddness in my heart I bring you this weeks cutback.
My Keurig. I will no longer be buying coffee for my Keurig.
My children are home for school and honestly I don't enjoy it. Its many hours of work daily for me. It takes away my "freedom". Instead of going to the grocery store when I choose, I must wait till school is done. Its basically like I am in school. Every morning I wake up and think, "I don't want to do school today" just like a child would!. But since I think at home is the best place for my children, I do it anyways.
My daily cup of coffee was something for me to look forward to each day as I began school. The warmth felt comforting and, well, I just truly enjoyed it.
However, anyone who has a Keurig knows, the K cups...they are not cheap! I would go through 2 boxes a month. A box will run around $14. So a monthly savings of $28. I think that is pretty significant especially when you combine that with any other saving efforts done each month.
I am trying to make myself like to drink hot tea. I am just not loving it. But tea bags are inexpensive! Sometimes tea, especially in the morning, actually makes me throw up. So that's not going great. I do love hot chocolate, but its too high in calories for me. So, mainly, I am just going without my warm beverage fix.
